Our Story - Meet The Local Brine

At The Local Brine, we don't make food; we make food better. To create exceptional products, our team works with local vendors and producers to source the best ingredients. We take pride in creating products from scratch and with premium ingredients. Our mission is to create a delicious and sustainable product line that supports the local ecosystem and vendors.

Meet Rod Evoy

Rod Evoy is the founder of The Local Brine. He was born into a family of commercial fishermen and has spent most of his life exploring the seaside and developing his passion for seafood. On top of his love for fishing, Rod is proud of his QALIPU MI KMAQ FIRST NATIONS Status, which was obtained in 2008 after 30 years of fighting the Canadian Government.

As a fisherman, Rod obtained a Fishing Master Class 4 (Marine Navigation Certification). Afterward, he moved to the coast in 1993 to start commercial fishing full-time and to build a life off the "Rock",

Rod has always been an innovator, driven by a curiosity to discover new flavors and textures in every culture he visits. By combining bold spices with traditional techniques, Rod has created a range of unique and delicious products.

Our Story

While smoking fresh fish and salts throughout the pandemic for friends and family, Rod discovered his products are desired, enjoyed, and should be shared on and wider platform. And with that, The Local Brine was born.

From smoked salmon to salts to brines, The Local Brine creates an array of products that will tantalize your taste buds. The Local Brine has something for everyone, whether you're looking to add a unique twist to your favorite dishes or discover something new and delicious. Our ultimate goal is to provide our customers with an unforgettable culinary experience.
